After a big day out with the family it seems only fit to try out the new XPA trial V.1 to unwind. I was a little unsure how this would turn out being my first XPA styled beer, but boy it is good!
Coming in at 0.5% abv, Straight away the colour looks magnificent and it’s hazy (no complaints here). The aroma is amazing with delightful tropical fruits of pineapple, mango, passionfruit & orange coming through with a soft and pillowy malt presence. The taste is fantastic! With strong pineapple and passionfruit flavours, light malt presence and a smooth velvet mouthfeel thanks to the wheat and dextrin malts.
Overall I’m very happy and very excited to have nearly nailed this one first go, I do feel like it needs a little more maltiness, as the dextrin malt being a large portion has thinned that flavour out a bit more than I’d like. But I think the hops are just perfect for this one. For the Aussies following us, it’s quite similair to the Sidewinder and Heaps Normal XPAs, so I’m pretty happy with that result.
